What’s Coming For John Deere Sprayers in 2027?
On this episode of The FarmCast, Mike Wemhoff and Troy Randall share the latest news on John Deere See & Spray™ Gen 2, officially announced for model year 2027 and poised to be a major leap forward in sprayer technology. MY27 brings a single, streamlined See & Spray system across Select, Premium, and Ultimate sprayers. This eliminates previous system tiers and simplifies decisions to one- or two-tank configurations. Gen 2 features upgraded cameras with improved image quality for detecting smaller weeds. Additionally, it has a redesigned processing system that reduces onboard hardware and weight. Boom-mounted lighting enables full nighttime see & spray on fallow for the first time. The technology also expands crop compatibility to include wheat and sugar beets, which are important crops in our region. See & Spray delivers targeted weed control, reduced chemical usage, and reported savings of 40% or more on chemicals. Moreover, it remains retrofit-ready for John Deere sprayers dating back to MY18.
The conversation also highlights the upcoming High Plains Ag Expo, taking place February 25 in Greeley at the Island Grove Event Center. There, attendees can see See & Spray and other John Deere technologies up close. The event will feature 23 educational sessions covering precision ag technology, Operations Center, equipment optimization, ROI from real-world trials, and the latest advancements in planting, spraying, and harvesting. In addition, guests will have opportunities to talk directly with 21st Century Equipment experts and John Deere representatives. They can also explore new displays and hardware. Attendees will wrap up the day with a post-event reception designed for networking and in-depth Q&A—all aimed at helping growers prepare for the upcoming season.
