Upgrade to See & Spray
Upgrading a John Deere sprayer to See & Spray is easier and faster than many growers realize. With John Deere Precision Upgrade Kits (PUK), existing sprayers can be retrofitted with See & Spray technology using a bolt-on kit shipped directly from John Deere. Installation typically takes about two days. Your local dealer can install it, a mobile Deere installation team, or you can ship to a nearby facility. Drop your sprayer off early in the week and it can be back in the field before the end of the week. Often, this is timed perfectly around a rainy day—so you’re spraying smarter with minimal downtime.
In this episode of The FarmCast, presented by 21st Century Equipment, Troy Randall and product specialist Tre Fehringer break down real-world results from growers running See & Spray across the region. In 2025, we had 44.6% average area saved between all crops. Some fields reached over 60% savings depending on conditions. The system’s cameras can detect weeds as small as a pinky fingernail. Often, it identifies plants more accurately than the naked eye. As operators gain confidence in the technology, adoption continues to grow rapidly. More machines run See & Spray each season. In 2025 we had over 360,000 acres covered with See & Spray enabled in our area.
Improvements and More
The conversation also dives into software improvements, expanded compatibility, and simplified licensing. Updates have increased field speeds to 15 MPH for corn and improved performance in cross-angle rows. They have added flexibility through simple software upgrades—no new hardware required. Licensing has shifted to a “pay for what you don’t spray” model. This change makes costs more transparent and easier to manage. From display upgrades to future crop compatibility, See & Spray continues to evolve. It helps growers reduce inputs, improve efficiency, and get more from the equipment they already own.
