High Tide Ranch
At High Tide Ranch in Colorado, Ann and Scott share the story of transforming five acres of wild pasture along Boulder Creek into a sanctuary for rescued animals and a place of healing. After surviving two cancer diagnoses, Ann knew she needed horses back in her life—and that mission led to rescuing Leo, a sick auction-lot horse bound for slaughter, followed quickly by Ranger and eventually Stuart Little the donkey, who now “runs the whole operation.” As they reflect on the emotional journey of building fences, shelters, and a new purpose from the ground up, they also showcase the power and ease of the John Deere equipment.
To support their growing operation, The Backyard stepped in and offered them a weekend with a full lineup of John Deere equipment, giving them the extra muscle they needed before winter. A John Deere Skid Steer made quick work of flipping the compost pile, while a Mini Excavator helped enlarge their water basin. The 1025R hauled sand into the horse stall, the 1023E—with a tiller attached—broke up the tough ground around the horses’ workout circle, and the x350 lawn tractor handled yard maintenance with ease. The team was blown away by the power, versatility, and simplicity of the machines—calling the experience a true game-changer for both them and their animals.
